Rising rents - Market Commentary by Director of Lettings, Helen Jolly

Over the last year it has been difficult to escape the news of rising house prices, but this has also been the case for rental properties for example a 3 bedroom well maintained semi-detached house with garage was let in 2019 at £900, recently achieved £1200 pcm. That's a 33% increase in 3 years!

Given the 'cost of living crisis' we are all now experiencing, it is my opinion that rents will not rise as fast this year but given the shortage in supply, I do not anticipate a large drop either. If you are looking to invest your money, now is a good time to look at bricks and mortar.

Please contact Emsleys Lettings for more advice on becoming a landlord, or if you are landlord to discuss if you are achieving the correct rental level for today.
