Sherburn has a good array of amenities. Many shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways, tea rooms, supermarkets along with a social club, a library, a primary school, a high school and local park areas.  There are also several churches serving the community.

Commuter links

Sherburn is remarkably well placed given its rural feel. There is very easy access to the A1, A64, M1 and M62 and has its own train station within walking distance of the centre, with trains direct to York.  Additional transport links nearby include train stations at South Milford, Ulleskelf, Micklefield and Garforth as well as a good bus service in and out of Sherburn-in-Elmet.

In recent years, the location has proven very popular and has welcomed a number of new developments.  It also offers older character properties and generally there is something to meet the needs and budgets of most people – first time buyers, professional, families and downsizers alike.

Community spirit

In Sherburn, there is a regular calendar of community events within the village, such as Jubilee Picnic in the Park, the community gala and regular socials at the Eversley Park Centre. The town has its own quarterly magazine called ‘The Resident’ which is distributed to local homes free of charge and keeps the village informed about updates, upcoming events and general town information as well as being a platform for local businesses.

Other sporting and social clubs include, but are not limited to, a camera club, a junior rugby team, craft groups and so on.
