Emsleys is committed to contributing to our communities, both as a business and as individuals.
Annual charity
For several years Emsleys have nominated a charity to direct our fundraising towards for the year ahead. The process is led by our charity committee and our staff are involved in the process and have the final say via a company wide vote. In previous years we have supported Zarach, the children's charity best known for providing beds and daily essentials to ensure all youngsters can reach their full potential at school. Before Zarach, Emsleys have also championed Mind, the mental health charity, as well as St Gemma's Hospice, and Macmillan Cancer Support. Our chosen charity partner of the year 2024 is another local children's charity Martin House Children's Hospice. Our employees are enthusiastic to raise money through regular charitable events in our local area. Our charity committee looks to reach wider audiences for fundraising and exposure with exciting events like Zip Lines, Leeds 10k, Half-Marathons and the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Head over to our blog for details of our recent activities.
About Martin House Children's Hospice
Martin House Children's Hospice are renown across the Yorkshire area for providing hospice care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Their facilities provide the space and respite for children and their families. Based in Boston Spa, the charity provides a safe space for families to be made comfortable during difficult times. Their facilities cover a wide range of service requirements and can support children and families before and after death. The charity has amazing kitchen facilities to make sure families can spend all the necessary time possible with their children and not have to worry about some of life's other daily necessities.
The Build
Launched in 2024, Martin House Children's Hospice latest large-scale fundraised is titled The Build. Construction of a building dedicated to children's bedrooms and hydrotherapy treatment rooms has left the core original building needing modernisation to fit the current standards for service users. With requirements and needs of children and young people always changing, the charity is constantly moving forwards in order to achieve it's mission of providing the best case. The Build fundraiser aims to raise £2 million and has involved several local businesses and spokespeople such as Gareth Southgate.
The charity has organised several large-scale events which Emsleys will be taking part in. The renowned Glitter Ball will raise funds in style, and sporting events such as Golf Days and tough challenges such as the Yorkshire Three Peaks will make fundraisers break a sweat.
